Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Barry Waller started his illustrious music career alternately playing bass in Mazarin, a highly successful Long Island band, playing drums for legendary rock critic Lester Bangs, and playing both instruments as a hired session musician. In the process, he developed into an introspective, self-contained songwriter and guitarist. These roles shaped Barry into a solo entertainer capable of bringing unique music versatility to audiences large and small, on two continents.
During residencies in Denmark, Finland and beyond, this seasoned performer engages crowds with familiar favourites not typically associated with "troubadour" entertainment. Solo renditions of overlooked, underplayed classics such as "Strawberry Fields Forever," "Bennie & The Jets" and the Doors' "Touch Me" come across like a breath of fresh sonic air, giving listeners a break from predictables such as "Sweet Home Alabama" or "Brown-Eyed Girl."
Barry's song list features a careful cherry-pick of Beatles, Dylan, James Taylor, Elton John, Rolling Stones, Doors, Bowie, Grateful Dead and way beyond, all reworked to suit his flair for creative arrangement without forsaking the 'recognition factor' essential to crowd-pleasing.
As a singer/songwriter, Barry continues to open for national acts. He also toured Europe in 2007 as bassist for Blackmore's Night, the group founded by Deep Purple's legendary Ritchie Blackmore.
